Each project manager approves only the hours on their projects. Then the next step takes over, and after the last step the timesheet becomes approved in TimeCamp. ### Send each hour to the right approver * Choose what people approve: one row for each timesheet, for each person, day and project, or for each person, day and task. * Set up to 8 steps. In each step, either any one approver or all approvers must decide. * Choose project managers, task managers, people managers, administrators, specific people, or people with a chosen value in a user custom field. ### Decide with the details in front of you * See your turn in one list, and filter by period, people, project, and status. * Approve or reject many rows at once. "Select all" takes the whole list. * Open the stats of a row: totals, time by day, task and tag, and every entry with its note and tags. * Approve, reject, or skip, and the next row opens. * See who approved, who is next, and what happened so far in the details of each row. ### Keep TimeCamp as the source of truth * TimeCamp hears about an approval when every row of that timesheet is approved. * A rejection reaches TimeCamp at once, so the person can fix the time. The reason goes into TimeCamp's email. * After a new submission, only the rejected rows and the rows with changed time start over. Other approvals stay. * If the time changes before the final approval reaches TimeCamp, the changed rows start over. ### How to get started 1. Choose Request and ask the TimeCamp team to add Multi-level and per-project approvals to your account. 2. Turn on timesheet approvals in TimeCamp, if they are off. 3. An account administrator opens the add-on and connects it once. 4. Open Approval settings. Choose what to approve and set the steps. 5. Approvers open the add-on and decide the rows that wait for them. ### Good to know * Multi-level and per-project approvals is free and available on request. * TimeCamp's approvals must be on. Turn off automatic approval, because a timesheet that TimeCamp approves counts as approved here too. * TimeCamp does not let project managers read or change other people's approvals. So the add-on keeps the connecting administrator's API key in encrypted form and works with it. TimeCamp shows that administrator as the approver, and the approval message names the people who approved. * Account administrators see all rows, approvers see the rows where they are in the chain, and everyone sees their own rows. * Nobody approves their own time, except a sole administrator. A step with no approver, such as a project without a manager, goes to the administrators. * An administrator can decide for someone who is away, and the history records it. * Supervisors can still approve directly in TimeCamp. The add-on then shows the time as approved in TimeCamp. * The add-on sends no reminders of its own. * A workflow change applies to rows without decisions. Changing what people approve starts rows in progress over. * The interface is available in English and Polish, with light and dark themes. ### Frequently asked questions #### Can a project manager approve time without being the person's supervisor? Yes. That is the main reason to use this add-on. Project managers approve the hours on their projects, and people managers can follow as the next step. #### Can one step need approval from several people? Yes. Set a step to All when each approver must decide, or to Any when one approver is enough. #### What happens when someone rejects time? The rejection reaches TimeCamp at once with the reason, so the person can fix the time and submit again. Then only the rejected and changed rows go back to the first step. #### Can approvers decide time that is not submitted yet? Yes, as with TimeCamp's own approval buttons. Those rows have their own "Not submitted" tab, so "select all" in the main list cannot lock time that someone still tracks. #### Does it replace approvals in TimeCamp? No. It works on top of them. TimeCamp keeps the status of each timesheet, and the add-on keeps only the steps and the progress of each row. #### How much does Multi-level and per-project approvals cost?
